Thanet Passport Update - 17

Dear Colleagues

Y3-6 BOCCIA FESTIVAL - PLACES STILL AVAILABLE

If you would still like to enter this inclusive event then places are still available. It will take place at Garlinge Primary School on Tuesday 25th June, 9.30-11.15am. There are 5 players in a team and no previous experience is necessary. Indeed, you are asked to bring a mixed gender team of players who may not have represented the school before and who may have additional needs. Please email Jade Bailey, baileyj@garlinge.kent.sch.uk , as soon as possible and certainly no later than the end of this week. Parents are NOT allowed to attend this event.

Y4-6 PASSPORT CUP GIRLS FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT

A reminder that the closing date for this event is this coming Friday 21st June 2024 and places are still available. I have re-attached the entry form for your convenience. The event will take place at Margate FC on Friday 5th July 2024, 1.30-4.30pm. I have been organising this event for the past 32 years and it would be great if this, my final girls football tournament, had a bumper entry of teams. As previously notified, please note that this date is a week later than on the original Passport calendar. There is no limit on the number of schools that can enter and schools may also enter up to 2 teams from Years 4-6. Parents are allowed to attend this event.

DISTRICT FOOTBALL - MANAGER NEEDED!

Information regarding nominations for trials for our Main Squad were sent out to schools with pupils in Years 5 and 6 this week. If you have not received this information then please let me know immediately.

Sadly our Girls District Manager is no longer able to continue and therefore we are urgently looking to find a suitable replacement. Unfortunately, should we be unsuccessful in filling the post then we will be unable to run a Thanet Girls District team next season. Ideally the new manager should be a Teacher or Sports Coach who is registered with the FA and has the relevant FA Coaching and Safeguarding credentials. Please note that the role is unsuitable for anyone who is already running a Girls team outside of a school context. This is a paid role (£700 - which includes expenses) and involves training the team and organising and attending matches on Saturday mornings from September through to March. If you, or anyone know, might be interested then please email me, garybcrees@gmail.com , as soon as possible.

YEARS 5/6 SUPER 8s CRICKET

As always, our final event of the year is a fun Kwik Cricket festival which will take place on Wednesday 17th July at Broadstairs CC, 4-5.20pm. This is an opportunity to play a couple of friendly matches and there are no medals or trophies, just turn up, play and have fun. Kwik cricket rules apply EXCEPT that players must all face 6 balls when batting and underarm bowling is permitted throughout (See attached rules). There is no limit on numbers so if you wish to take part then simply email me, garybcrees@gmail.com , no later than Friday 28th June 2024. Parents are allowed to attend this event.

PASSPORT CALENDAR FOR 2024/25

We are already in the process of putting together next year's Passport Calendar and a draft version should be with you in July. If you are already starting to plan your after school clubs and trips out for 2024/25 then be assured that most of our calendar will be the same as this year.

Best Wishes
