Thanet Passport Update - 18

Dear Colleagues

Welcome to the final Passport Update of the school year, which is also my last ever Update!

DRAFT PASSPORT CALENDAR 2024/25

Attached is the draft Passport Calendar, both by Date and Overview, for the next academic year. Once again we have included the dates of all our Networking Meetings for PE Staff in the hope that, with more notice, more of you will be able to attend. You may notice that one or two events that were sparsely attended have been removed, but pleasingly there are some new events added this year, including Triathlon and the return of Dance for both KS1 and KS2. Other events in the pipeline include Pickleball and Outdoor Athletics. As you will notice from the Overview version, we have once again tried to keep the first and last weeks of each term relatively free of events, which we know are often very busy times.

However, please note that the Calendar is still a work in progress and although the vast majority of the dates and venues are correct, there are always a few last minute changes and additions. The idea of issuing the draft to you now is so that you can begin to plan your after school clubs to match those events you wish to enter, as well as ensuring that there are no clashes with major school events such as trips out, concerts or sports days. The final draft will be sent out with the first Update in September, with the usual A3 size laminated hard copies delivered to your schools a few weeks later.

One final thing to note is that all next season's Les Riggs Cup and Consolation Cup football matches will be held after school on designated weeks on the main pitches at both Margate FC and Ramsgate FC. The idea is to ensure that matches don't end up getting postponed due to unplayable pitches or bad light and that both competitions are completed before Christmas. Further details as to how it will all work will follow with the entry form in September.

CRICKET SUMMER SCHOOL

Also attached are a flyer and booking form for the Thanet Cricket Summer School at Broadstairs Cricket Club from Monday 29th July to Friday 4th August. The Cricket Camp caters for boys and girls of all abilities from 6-18. Please pass on the info to any keen cricketers in your school that might be interested.

GOODBYEEEEE!

After 13 years as Chairman and 11 years as Administrator of Thanet Passport I would simply like to say how proud I am of all that we have achieved in that time. We are lucky to have such a unique organisation that does so much to promote sport, healthy lifestyles and positive attitudes amongst so many of our young people. I am sure this will continue under our new Chairman, Scott Tift, supported by the dedicated Passport Committee who give so freely of their time, our experienced SGO, Stephanie Selsby, not forgetting the new Passport Administrator, Michael Povey. If you need to contact Michael his email is thanetpassport@gmail.com .

One of the hallmarks of Thanet Passport is the friendship and mutual respect (and hugs!) that I witness amongst all of the PE staff who bring teams along to our panoply of events. Long may it continue!

Have a well deserved Summer break and I'm sure I will still be seeing you at many Passport events next year, even if it is only to cheer you on from the sidelines.

Best Wishes

Gary Rees
